Friday 17th April saw an impressive array of delegates joining us at Lower Langford for the event we co-hosted with the OPCC “RJ Hearing the Victims Voice; Local Justice by Local People”. The focus of the event was to think about how professional agencies and the voluntary sector can work together to retain the community focus of RJ. Delegates from Avon & Somerset Constabulary, OPCC, HMCTS, National Probation Service, CRC SW, Curo Housing Group, Yarlington Housing Group, YOT, the Magistrates Association, Somerset and Bristol Magistrates Benches, Restorative Solutions and the Restorative Justice Council as well as our own volunteers enjoyed a great day of informative exchanges, networking and an acronym table race!

In March a new group of volunteers trained.  There will be one further course this year in the North of the County - Worle/Weston area.

Accreditation (1)

Is the next big thing!! As a condition of our funding all of our people must either be accredited practitioners or working towards accreditation. This ensures quality services to Restorative Justice Council kite mark standards.

Accreditation (2)

Our next focus post conference is ensuring smooth working relations with the Lighthouse victime care hub at Bridgwater who will be referring work to us.We recently attended a WOW (ways of working) day recently where we and the other partners literally sat and worked out how the process for referrals will work. More work will also help us prepare the SCJP organisation for RJC RSQM accreditation.

We have been approached to see how we can be involved in developing RJ in a number of schools in Frome. This has the potential to be a very big project as there are 17 schools in all. Housing Association We are very pleased to now be working with Homes for Sedgemoor. We have taken two cases so far and more will follow. We aim to attract new housing providers to our services in the coming months. Our Website

Our website has been considerably developed and now contains a lot more information. A big thank you to Mark One of Yeovil. Do please take a look. Our next newsletters will also be posted there.

Want to go to Court or Prison?

Restorative Justice conferencing is rapidly extending into these sectors and being carried out by our volunteers.  For a rewarding volunteer experience and a fascinating insight into the criminal justice system considering volunteering and working towards this kind of work.
